I want to buy a used projector to convert some old 8 and Super 8 films
to VHS. No sound. I prefer a Bell and Howell only because the name is
familiar to me and I see a lot of such units for sale on ebay.

My question is: Is there any particular B&H model that I should avoid?
Is there a B&H model I should prefer.

I am not familiar with the various features to consider and don't want
a detailed evaluation or comparision of units. I only want to gather
some general opinions on individual models before I do some bids.
Price is not a consideration.

Thanks

Since you have both 8 mm and super 8 films to transfer you will want to stay
away from the older 8 mm only models. Since you are transferring to video you
will need a model with a variable speed control.

The Bell and Howell projectors with a variable speed control to stay away from
are the silent "Filmosound Compatible" projectors which did not reproduce sound
but they connected to a tape recorder and synched with it. I know you are not
needing sound but I am warning you about these particular models because they
have a speed control that will NOT have the speed range to sync with your video
camera to remove flicker.

Thanks for the recommendation that the Bell and Howell projector be
(1) dual film,(2) variable speed, and (3) not Filmsound Compatible.
Based upon a less than exhuastive research, I found two models that
appear to meed the critera, which are B&H models "10MS" and "466ZB".

Can anyone confirm that these two models meet the critera? Also, does
anyone know of any other B&H models that would meet the criteria. I
plan to buy on Ebay and the more models to choose from, the better.

Thanks in advance for any information.
